Our child seems to be a fear junkie. Over the last few weeks her imagination seems to have exploded and all the activities she seems to want to spend her time on have to involve a frisson of danger or fear. As she is only allowed a very short leash out of doors, the adrenaline junkie’s kicks have come from throwing herself around the house whilst watching Olympic athletes, climbing everything that’s climbable indoors and playing games that involve being stuck and/or chased by monsters/dinosaurs/big bad wolves that are going to eat her up. If there are books to be read, it’s the scary stuff she wants: gingerbread men being tricked and eaten by foxes, dragons and wolves gobbling up letters and good little wolves being eaten by big bad wolves.
This will all end in tears and nightmares.
