We Are One!

Happy Birthday to ya, Happy Birthda-ay to ya, Happy Birthdaaaay

Happy Birthday to ya, Happy Birthda-ay to ya, Happy Birthdaaaay

A year of blogging! Who’d believe that that was a year ago. 365 full days, yet it feels so much longer ago that that even though I’ve not managed 365 posts. We’ve not even managed to read a book today, but what a day it has been.

We spent the day at the Olympic Park and watched some stunning athletics heats and finals. I’m not a sportist although I’ve been an avid runner in my time (and vow consistently to start again) but I’ve never been so inspired, so challenged or so moved by sport.

It was a fitting end to this year, that has taught me so much about what is possible within us, what we can collectively achieve. We didn’t read, but it marks how far we’ve come that what went into the “how to keep the Monkey happy and quiet within the Olympics stadium” bag was not cards or toys or other fripperies, but two slim current favourite nursery books. That we didn’t need them was neither here nor there. If we had, they would have saved the day.

There is still time to get some reading in today, but it looks unlikely – she fell asleep on the way home and is still sleeping off the impact of London 2012
