Tricky few days of toiletting. I shall say no more other than it brought it with it lots of opportunities for reading together.
Yesterday I bought the Monkey a new book that has gone down a storm: The Foggy Foggy Forest by Nick Sharratt. It seemed like a great book for Halloween.
I really love the illustrations in Nick Sharratt’s familiar style and the colour palette. He loves a reveal – and the fairytale characters are vibrantly and cheekily drawn. The Monkey loves all of his books. She loved finding the Witch on her broomstick and – as we celebrated Halloween early, in spite of her poo traumas – she was dressed as a witch whilst we were reading the book and it filled her with glee.
The last forty eight hours in fact, the Monkey has been all about scary stories.
Here’s our Halloween book list:
The Foggy Foggy Forest by Nick Sharratt (fairytale creatures, obscured in the fog!)
Jack and The Beanstalk (malevolent giants!)
Hansel & Gretel (evil stepmother, cannibalistic witches)
Fragoline and the Midnight Dream by Clemency Pearce and Rebecca Elliott
Good Little Wolf by Nadia Shireen (bad wolves!)
The Dangerous Alphabet by Neil Gaiman
Meg and Mog by Helen Nicholl and Jan Pienkowski
